Is it corruption when the consultation document for a significant planning development for 4,400 dwellings was written by a bunch of consultants for the proposed developer?
Well, we said, a couple of weeks ago, that the SPD was of such poor quality we couldn’t believe a professional planning officer wrote such an egregious mess.
It turns out that we were right. The entire SPD was written by property consultants to the Barwood/Taylor Wimpey builder – a builder who has a significant stake in everything laid out in the SPD.
Yes, this breaches a number of local government and planning rules, yes this isn’t a demonstration of impartiality, yes, this is clearly the product of vested interests.
What can we do?
Write to your RBC councillor and point out to them the highly unethical and probably illegal practice their officers have engaged in with the developer.
Write to your Notts county councillor and tell them the same thing (Notts CC are one of the land owners who would be affected by the SPD).
Write to your newspapers. Write to the planning inspectorate. Write to the local government ombudsman.
What RBC has permitted to happen must stop the SPD.
