We’ve had a request for our older readers to submit their memories of the Cotgrave Lane, RAF Tollerton, and the canal areas. There used to be two crossings, the Swing Bridge which still sits across the canal, and what we think was a rising bridge, a little further along the canal towards the former wharf by the Tollerton Lane bridge.
Does anyone have any memories of the second crossing? Did it come out of Bassingfield opposite Bassinfield Lane (the lane the livery yard is located on)? Or did it cross the canal from a different footpath? What happened to that footpath when the bridge disappeared?
This leads the person asking questions to believe there was a third canal crossing after Bassingfield, possibly near where the Golf Course now is.
