Polling cards arrived yesterday. If you’re a registered voter in Tollerton you would probably have received yours by now. The point of the vote is to say either ‘yay’ or ‘nay’ to the Neighbourhood Plan for Tollerton and the vote will be on Thursday 13th February.
Here’s a thought about this referendum, which was emailed in yesterday evening.
Good People of Tollerton,
If you have read the Neighbourhood Plan, understand what it says and agree with/want to accept the implications that will follow the adoption of this plan, you should vote ‘Yes’.
If you have read the Neighbourhood Plan, understand what it says and disagree with/do not want to accept the implications that will follow the adoption of this plan, you should vote ‘No’.
If you have not read the Neighbourhood Plan, or you have read it but do not understand the implications that will follow the adoption of this plan, you should vote ‘No’.
These are some forthright views but, after sleeping on them, I think they’re spot on. We’ve already seen how a referendum vote where people didn’t understand the implications, has adversely impacted the lives of everyone in this country. On that basis I would agree with the emailer.
“If you don’t understand something, do not vote for it.”
