Crowing a little

The thing about Rushcliffe Borough Council’s whiplash-like about turn on the SPD is, I’m sure, unrelated to the public revelation the developers were going to openly pay the council a smidge under £29,000 just for approving the SPD. I’m certain it’s unrelated to that information coming to light. But the real thing is it’s only a step on the road to sorting out RBCs dubious practices. Deferring the SPD until March is just one thing and it only means the developers will come back with another bunch of statements which, probably, won’t bear detailed scrutiny because, let’s face it, the SPD which RBC rejected contained LOADS of statements which didn’t bear up to any degree of scrutiny at all.

So what RBC comes back with, probably in mid-February, needs to be taken apart and scrutinised by experts – legal experts and planning experts. Because as sure as eggs are egg-shaped, the developers and RBC are going to have another crack at shoehorning this development in against everyone’s interests.
