After the ‘consultation’ to discuss the Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), it would seem certain officers at Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) are keen to star in our own version of the Netflix documentary Toxic Town – and in the High Court attempting to defend their indefensible lack of action.
During the consultation I heard one very senior RBC officer actually tell a member of the press that claims of contamination on the airfield were rubbish (yes, I made a note of who said that, the date and time it was said, and who it was said to – and so too did the press correspondent). Later on, an RBC planning officer told me the developers (Vistry) who bought the airfield were not told about the radioactive contamination on the airfield. Later, another RBC officer told me the ‘consultation’ wasn’t about listening to the public, it was only about telling the public what’s going to be done to them.
That’s a mighty strange definition of ‘consultation’ but no wonder RBC haven’t engaged with the parish council on any of this, it would seem RBC want to hog the limelight in their own High Court case.
