News of very strange goings-on have filtered down to this end of the village from Tollerton airfield (aka Nottingham City Airport).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday 13th<\/sup> December (now there\u2019s an ominous date) in a long Facebook post (screenshot below) a director of Truman Aviation said the developer (Vistry) were going to serve 3 months\u2019 notice on all tenants and businesses of the site, and would close the airport forthwith. The Facebook post went on to say the only way to stop this closure from happening was that everyone who had objected to the proposed development at the airfield had to change their minds, withdraw their objections, and support the proposed development. That way, the post clearly stated, the developers would keep the airport going for longer. The Facebook post was signed \u2018Regards, Truman Aviation Ltd\u2019, clearly marking this as an official statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, obviously, this seems like peculiar logic. A number of enquiring minds contacted Vistry to ask them what on earth they were playing at. While that was going on, other minds shared this threat with the local councillors, the head of planning, the head of scrutiny and oversight and, unsurprisingly, the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First to report back to the enquiring minds were the developers. Vistry have clearly, and unequivocally denied ever making any such threat<\/a> or claim or statement or intimidation or whatever you want to call it (we\u2019re comfortable with calling it a threat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over coffee this morning a few inhabitants of the village said Vistry’s denial seems to call the good people at Truman Aviation Ltd a bunch of liars. Certainly, reading the original Facebook post again it doesn\u2019t leave any grounds for mistranslation or misunderstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notts TV asked Truman Aviation Ltd for a statement to explain things which, surprisingly, wasn\u2019t forthcoming. The words \u2018It was discussed\u2019 were uttered, without clearly stating who discussed it and with whom it was discussed. The enquiring minds have gone back to Vistry to see if indeed this course of action was ever discussed with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
