Well, the release of a formal planning application for an estate of 200 new houses at Russell Farm has landed. And the only thing I can say about the application is someone, somewhere seems to be bonkers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The application states the estate will include affordable housing (whose definition of what is affordable?), sustainable drainage, a public open space – including a children’s play area – and landscaping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The only ingress\/egress to this whole estate will be the via the single-track Russell Farm Close. This is bonkers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How many cars will the households on this estate have? 1 per house? 2 per house? 3? More?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How many journeys will funnel up\/down Russell Farm Close per day? 1,500? 2,000? Per day?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n And these cars and vans will funnel down onto Burnside? 1,500 per day? 2,000 per day? This is also bonkers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The closing date for comments on this plan neatly avoids the next parish council meeting (someone at RBC knows Tollerton Parish Council’s meeting schedule and is working very hard to avoid it).<\/p>\n\n\n\n How does this development fit into the Tollerton Neighbourhood Plan? Have the people who say this development needs to happen even read the Tollerton Neighbourhood Plan?<\/p>\n\n\n\n And what have we heard from our self-styled “hard-working” district councillor – the entirely silent on this, and equally silent on many other matters – Debbie Mason?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not. A. Thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That’s a whole new definition of “hard working”.
