Is it corruption when the consultation document for a significant planning development for 4,400 dwellings was written by a bunch of consultants for the proposed developer?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, we said, a couple of weeks ago<\/a>, that the SPD was of such poor quality we couldn’t believe a professional planning officer wrote such an egregious mess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It turns out that we were right. The entire SPD was written by property consultants to the Barwood\/Taylor Wimpey builder<\/span> – a builder who has a significant stake in everything laid out in the SPD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, this breaches a number of local government and planning rules, yes this isn’t a demonstration of impartiality, yes, this is clearly the product of vested interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What can we do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Write to your RBC councillor and point out to them the highly unethical and probably illegal practice their officers have engaged in with the developer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Write to your Notts county councillor and tell them the same thing (Notts CC are one of the land owners who would be affected by the SPD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Write to your newspapers. Write to the planning inspectorate. Write to the local government ombudsman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
